Threats and Emotional Abuse
Verbal threats and emotional abuse are considered child abuse by many state laws. A child does not need to suffer any actual physical harm in these situations for an act to be abusive. Matt Horeczko says that a caregiver who repeatedly humiliates or terrorizes a child has committed child abuse. Parents who expose their children to physical or verbal abuse are also committing child abuse.
